VMware unveils new partnerships and innovative solutions designed to cater to the ever-evolving needs of communications service providers (CSPs) and enterprises. As they continue their mission, these advances will reshape the digital landscape for years to come.
“It’s a time of change for service providers as they modernize their networks and monetize their services,” said Sanjay Uppal, senior vice president, and general manager, Service Provider and Edge, VMware. “Meanwhile, enterprises are seeking more secure, reliable, and better delivery of apps, data, and services to the edge for branch offices, factory floors, clinics, and retail stores. At Mobile World Congress 2023, we’re announcing innovations to help our customers with their transformation efforts by delivering multi-cloud solutions for service providers and enhanced networking and security capabilities to support the needs at the edge.”
Enabling CSPs to leverage 5G by modernizing their networks
VMware has delivered major advancements that will enable Communication Service Providers (CSPs) to expedite the modernization of their networks. Aiming to reinforce the O-RAN alliance’s concept of streamlining, optimizing, and automating radio access networks (RAN), VMware unveiled its vision for a unified Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) framework.
It released a trial version allowing CSPs to benefit from VMware ESXi alongside running fragmented virtualized RAN components through a bare metal server with VMware Tanzu.
VMware is taking networking to the next level with its Telco Cloud Platform, utilizing VMware NSX.
By leveraging advancements in DPU-based acceleration technology, it is providing accelerated networks and security performance for VNFs and CNFs while also improving the observability of said network as well as increasing available resources.
VMware also uses the DPU-based acceleration of lateral security features such as distributed firewall and distributed intrusion detection and prevention and supporting energy efficiency use cases for 4G/5G core load balancing needs.
Extending SD-WAN to operation technology
VMware unveiled new and improved edge connectivity, as well as intelligent wireless features for their SD-WAN and SASE customers. VMware SD-WAN and SASE offer a reliable virtual overlay network that delivers application performance with ultrafast response times to accommodate the dynamic requirements of Over The Top applications. This cutting-edge solution supports numerous transport services, from LTE/3G and satellite networks to MPLS and broadband technology; ensuring unparalleled flexibility in WAN connectivity.
VMware SD-WAN has been demonstrated to deliver significantly increased Quality of Experience (QoE) for voice and video applications when accessing networks via Satellite or Cellular, with a whopping 40% improvement in results. Adaptive thresholds based on the usage data from over one hundred thousand customer connections ensure maximum network utilization, enabling high-quality performance across satellite and cellular devices.
Moreover, VMware will be expanding its collaboration with Intel to deliver new edge appliances leveraging 5G connectivity to support additional SD-WAN use cases involving mobile and IOT devices.
Revolutionary SD-WAN Client
VMware partners and customers can now unlock the power of a secure, optimized digital workspace with an SD-WAN Client. From laptops to IoT devices, this versatile software allows remote access that offers single console control alongside integrated AIOps for superior security and performance optimization at an ideal cost/performance balance. This comprehensive solution helps optimize user experience across remote endpoints, enabling users to boost efficiency.
VMware is providing select customers and partners with a unique opportunity to preview the powerful VMware SD-WAN Client ahead of its release in Q1 FY24.
VMware certification program
VMware announced the VMware Certified Professional Education program, granting certifications in both SD-WAN and SASE. This opportunity provides customers and partners with a new way to identify professionals that are well-equipped for the successful deployment and management of VMware SD-WAN solutions.
By taking part in VMware’s updated certification program, partners can demonstrate their engineering talents and show customers they can help them reach new heights. This rigorous testing process gives engineers a valuable opportunity to hone expertise that makes them more marketable within their sector. Passing these exams is an exceptional achievement that encourages further success for both partner companies and individuals alike.
