Single Character .PW Domains will be up for auction from July 12, 2013 to July 16, 2013 , announced The Professional Web registry today. The new domain names will be available through NameJet.
.PW top level domain has seen 250,000 registrations since it was made available to general public 3 months earlier.
In an Interview with DailyHostNews post his WHD.India 2013 session, Sandeep Ramchandani, Business Head, The Professional Web Registry, said “The response to .PW has been phenomenal. Our goal when we started .PW was to get 100,000 domain names registered in the first year, which was quite challenging because we hadn’t seen too many other comparable TLDs reach that, but we hit 100,000 in the first 20 days since we launched.”
“A lot to do with the fact that we had over 100 registrar supporting .PW and offering it at a very competitive price,” he added.
The names P.pw and W.pw have already been sold for $8000 each and U.pw, the domain name of social media site Upworthy, was also sold recently for an undisclosed amount, says The .PW Registry in an official press release.
Applicants who wish to participate in the .pw single character auction need to register on Namejet before July 12, 2013.
