Veeam Software recently introduced the Veeam Competency Program for Veeam Value-Added Resellers (VVARs) and Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) partners to strengthen its ProPartner Network strategy. This will help it establish a strong partner network with a “ProPartner Competency” across the globe. The new program provides tailored expertise and resources to assist customers and partners who use the Veeam Data Platform. This platform offers advanced data protection, recovery, and hybrid cloud capabilities based on Veeam Backup & Replication™ (VBR) v12.

The Veeam Competency Program will grant recognition to program graduates for their technical and go-to-market offerings, which will help differentiate their portfolio in the market. VVARs and VCSP partners, who have created exceptional solutions, can submit their use case-specific offering for review by Veeam. Each technical and go-to-market competency attained will be acknowledged with a certified Veeam badge. The Veeam ProPartner Directory, which is a partner list that assists customers in finding an appropriate IT business partner on Veeam.com, will feature a prominent placement for this new level of data protection proficiency.

“We bring unsurpassed innovation and combine that with the expertise of our partners to offer customers a perfectly matched solution for their needs. As a 100% channel-driven organization, Veeam is committed to ensuring our partners have access to the most valuable resources and training to deliver first-rate outcomes for customers. That’s why these new program enhancements have been designed in collaboration with our partners to expand their capabilities in a way that enables them to tap into the potential of the total addressable market,” said Larissa Crandall, Vice President of Global Channel and Alliances at Veeam.

VVAR Competency Program categories

Ransomware and Disaster Recovery Competencies

The program enables partners to assist organizations in implementing Backup-as-a-Service and Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service strategies that are transparent and actionable. The partners are trained to detect suspicious activities, protect data with immutable backup options, and quickly recover backup data to enhance data security against ransomware and disaster recovery threats.

Public Cloud Protection Competency

The Veeam Competency Program helps nurture a deep understanding of the cloud-native backup solutions’ market and customer challenges. A qualified VVAR is capable of representing the public cloud Backup-as-a-Service capability supported by all Veeam cloud-native backup solutions. He/she also helps in selecting the appropriate solution for the customer’s needs to ensure public cloud protection.

Microsoft 365 Protection Competency

The program recognizes that Microsoft is only responsible for application uptime, leaving the customer responsible for avoiding data loss. A trained VVAR can support the customer in safeguarding their critical processes against the risk of losing access and control by using Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 to protect against data loss.

Container Protection Competency

The Veeam Competency Program ensures that a VVAR can protect and manage their customers’ containerized workloads, and future-proof their customers’ cloud-native strategy via knowledge development supported by Kasten by Veeam. Partners with this competency can help customers enhance container protection and mobility.

VCSP Competencies

The VCSP Customer Ready competencies acknowledge partners who provide Veeam-powered “as a service” solutions to customers. VCSP Reseller Ready competencies connect service providers with VVAR partners who are interested in reselling cloud services. The current VCSP competency categories include Off-site Backup, Disaster Recovery as a Service, Backup-as-a-Service for Microsoft 365, and Managed Service Provider (MSP) Backup (Reseller Ready only).

Veeam recently launched newCompetency program VCSP competencies for both Customer Ready and Reseller Ready partners:

  • Backup-as-a-Service for Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Backup-as-a-Service for Microsoft Azure

These new competencies are intended to broaden the scope of services offered by partners, enabling them to provide more comprehensive solutions to their customers in the public cloud.

The Veeam Competency Program will be featured exclusively during VeeamON 2023, taking place on May 22 – 24 in Miami, FL, and online.
