Many service providers have been setting up new data centers in India due to various reasons such as availability of land and workforce at low costs. This trend has gained a significant pace after the Finance Minister of India announced infrastructure status to datacenters. Microsoft Corporation has recently announced its decision to set up its fourth data center in India at Hyderabad, Telangana. This investment from Microsoft will help customers thrive in a cloud and AI-enabled digital economy. It will also be a part of the world’s largest cloud infrastructure. Microsoft already has 3 data centers in India, located in Mumbai, Pune and Chennai.

Microsoft has said that the new data center in Hyderabad would deliver advanced data security and cloud solutions that would help enterprises, start-ups, developers, education, and government institutions.
Responding to Microsoft’s intent to establish its latest data center region in Hyderabad, Shri. KT Rama Rao, Minister Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Industries & Commerce, and Information Technology, Government of Telangana, said, “I am extremely delighted that Microsoft chose Hyderabad as the destination for its largest data center investment in India. This will also be one of the largest foreign direct investments (FDIs) the state has attracted. Microsoft and Telangana have a long history, with Hyderabad hosting one of the largest Microsoft offices in the world, and I am happy to see the relationship grow.”
Microsoft is committed to build the new data center region with sustainable design and operations in mind. Rajiv Memani, Chairman, Ernst & Young India congratulated Microsoft and the Telangana government on the upcoming data center and said that it will bring to this region green technology based cloud services that are comprehensive, intelligent, sustainable, and trusted.
The tech giant has also revealed that the new datacenter region would give customers faster access to the full Microsoft Cloud, including Microsoft Azure. Microsoft data center region at Hyderabad will enable opportunities for local businesses to innovate with Microsoft Cloud services and create new jobs across IT operations, facilities management, data and/or network security, network engineering, process management, and project management.
