Green Cloud Technologies, a Cloud technology solutions provider headquartered in Greenville, SC, has appointed Dan Sterling as president of the company.  Sterling, a former Windstream executive and telecom industry veteran, will oversee and manage the company’s sales, marketing and field support operations.  He is charged with developing sales and marketing strategies for Green Cloud’s industry-leading disaster recovery solution and furthering the company’s market growth through a network of channel partners.

The announcement comes a few days after Green Cloud Technologies expanded its presence in Florida by opening a new office in Tampa and hiring two new sales executives.

“Dan brings great energy and passion to this key leadership position,” says Shay Houser, chief executive officer of Green Cloud Technologies.  “He has a wealth of leadership experience in the telecom channel and his strategic sales and marketing acumen will have an enormous impact on the company’s future.”

Prior to joining Green Cloud, Sterling was vice president of channel sales and channel chief at Windstream (formerly NuVoxCommunications) where he served for more than 14 years.  A career veteran of the communications channel, he was named 2009 Channel Partners magazine Channel Executive of the Year as well as Channel Executive of the Year Finalist in 2010 and 2011.  In addition to his professional accolades, Dan is actively involved in the Greenville community and was recently named 2012 United Way Mentor of the Year.

In his new role at Green Cloud, Sterling reunites with many former NuVox Communications executives including Charles Houser, Green Cloud’s executive vice president of sales and marketing.  “Getting to work with Dan again is truly a privilege. His passion and positive attitude makes everyone around him more productive,” says Houser. “He is a born leader and someone who understands the benefits of our cloud offerings.”

Sterling commented, “I am thrilled to be joining the Green Cloud’s team. I am excited about the foundation that Shay and the team have built and the opportunity to work collectively to help Green Cloud’s portfolio of cloud solutions achieve their full potential. I feel honoured to have been chosen to lead Green Cloud and feel a huge sense of responsibility to do all that I possibly can to help the team achieve even higher levels of greatness for the business, its owners and for the individual employees.”

This latest appointment comes on the heels of Green Cloud’s recent market expansion announcements. In the last six months, the company has opened regional offices in Charleston, S.C., Nashville, Tenn., and Tampa, Fla. and has added 17 executive management and support personnel positions.  With the expansion, Green Cloud has experienced notable quarter-over-quarter sales growth. Sales last quarter were up 70% over the previous quarter.
