A  holiday created by GoDaddy and  World Organization of Webmasters back in 2008, Web Professionals Day is celebrated on 29th April ever since.

“Web Professionals are diverse and provide a great skill set for any organization,” said Bill Cullifer, Executive Director, World Organization of Webmasters. “Considering the key role the Web plays in businesses today, these professionals are proving their worth day in and day out.”

In addition to maintaining websites, Web professionals oversee issues such as user availability, speed of access and ease-of-use. They collect and analyze data on Web activity, traffic patterns and other metrics, as well as monitor and respond to user feedback.

“From running a business to connecting with friends and family, our world is increasingly digital,” said Blake Irving, CEO, Go Daddy. “Web professionals, those men and women who build and manage the online world, are at the center of this revolution. They’re helping to change the world in pretty amazing ways–and ought to have (at least) one day dedicated in their honor.”

To participate in the celebration and show your support, you can post  on Twitter about the same using the hashtag: #WebProDay. You can also subscribe to World Organization of Webmasters’ website here.
