Fujitsu, the leading ICT company, launched a new data protection solution─ ‘Fujitsu Reference Architecture for Commvault HyperScaleTM Software’, to bring advantages of cloud to on-premises backup storage.
The new solution is Fujitsu’s third data protection solution developed in collaboration with Commvault. Fujitsu has leveraged Commvault HyperScaleTM Software and Fujitsu Server Primergy server systems to build the new reference architecture.
“Protecting data against loss has become number one priority in a digital world. However, traditional heterogeneous point solutions for backup and archiving may have slowed down business process transformation due to limited flexibility and hardware choice. We are changing that with our new Fujitsu Reference Architecture for Commvault HyperScaleTM Software,” said Olivier Delachapelle, Head of Category Management Data Center at Fujitsu in EMEIA. “This replaces legacy data protection architectures with a software-defined solution, based on economical, general purpose, server-based storage. The new architecture boosts agility by consolidating and eliminating data silos, and shrinking the footprint of on-premises hardware – as well as providing that all-important holistic, big-picture view of their data, wherever it’s stored.”
The new architecture will simplify the transformation to private cloud storage, and provide seamless integration between the public cloud and on-premise environments with complete data portability. This will help organizations who have greater capacity and performance needs than they get from an appliance-based approach.
Fujitsu Reference Architecture, based on pre-tested configurations, is scalable and provides hardware sizes and models for Commvault Hyperscale Software. This enables organizations to build a modern data protection and management platform with reduced integration time and risk related to multi point solutions.
The new data protection solution is agile, high-performant and cost-effective. The organizations can back up and archive data in physical, virtual or cloud-based data centers.
“We welcome Fujitsu to the reference architecture program for Commvault HyperScale™ Software,” said Jonathan Howard, Director, Technical Alliances, Commvault. “Today’s enterprise customers want the agility and economics of the cloud on-premises, so scale out data protection software with Commvault HyperScale is highly attractive. Fujitsu’s experience in the enterprise, and the pairing of its world class hardware portfolio with Commvault data protection, provide customers with pre-validated solutions to help them gain a fresh approach to data protection and on-premises infrastructures.”
