Server and site management platform, cPanel announced a hike in its license prices with effect from December 16, 2022. The company informed its partners about the price rise via email. The below image shows the new license prices for partners.

The price per license is based on the number of Accounts (users) hosted on the same server. A cPanel license includes both Web Host Manager (WHM) and cPanel interfaces. A package comprises Account Tier (cPanel Solo, Admin, Pro, Plus, Premier) and License type (Metal or Cloud) generated based on what a customer selects as their cPanel offering.

In its email to partners regarding increased prices, cPanel said, “We understand the material impact that these changes have on your business. We are continually researching to determine ways in which we can strengthen our partnership while also helping you grow your business. One of these initiatives is the introduction of an incentive program.”

cPanel successfully launched a more modern interface in 2022. NGINX caching was also added. Ubuntu support is underway, and additional OS support including Rocky Linux is also planned. cPanel remains vigilant in its security protocols, combating and mitigating issues arising from malicious threats.

In 2023, cPanel is planning some exciting features. This includes Team Manager, using which cPanel account owners can safely and securely delegate management of various aspects of account management to other team members without sharing login credentials. cPanel will also be creating a new product that will facilitate horizontal website scaling. This will be accomplished with a special focus on WordPress-powered sites. cPanel’s upcoming product will enable customers’ websites to withstand sudden increases in demand with failover benefits.

Many customers had expected a price hike for cPanel licenses. However, this has not gone down well with a few others as they find the constant price hikes unjustifiable.  They are also planning to migrate to other platforms and are exploring alternatives like Plesk, DirectAdmin, etc.

On the other hand, cPanel has asked its partners to become cPanel certified partners, if they haven’t. All cPanel partners receive tier discounts, but the cPanel certified partners enjoy an additional discount and ultra-priority technical support.
