Accedian cisco partnership

Leading technology company, Cisco, has announced its intention to acquire Accedian, a renowned network performance monitoring partner. The acquisition aims to enhance Cisco’s capabilities in addressing the growing challenges faced by communications service providers (CSPs) and webscalers.

In today’s digital landscape, CSPs and webscalers are confronted with rising subscriber expectations and stringent performance requirements. These demands necessitate real-time data and actionable insights to ensure that networks perform optimally. To meet these assurance challenges, Cisco has identified Accedian as an ideal candidate for acquisition.

Accedian specializes in facilitating the seamless operation of service provider transport and 5G networks. By integrating Accedian’s expertise, Cisco aims to realize its vision of developing an intelligent and flexible network that can self-configure, self-heal, and adapt continuously to dynamic networking environments. This transformative approach will result in superior user experiences for Cisco’s service provider customers.

Before this acquisition announcement, Cisco and Accedian had already collaborated through the Cisco SolutionsPlus program. Together, they delivered a joint automation and assurance solution tailored to the needs of service providers. The addition of Accedian strengthens Cisco’s assurance strategy, enabling greater agility, efficiency, and scalability for these customers to achieve success.

“Microseconds matter to customers and customer experience, and precise, granular performance visibility is a foundational requirement for closed-loop automation, agile telco cloud environments, and latency-sensitive 5G services. We look forward to bringing our critical capabilities to a wider set of solutions within Cisco’s Networking portfolio and taking the next step in the partnership we have built with Cisco and our joint customers over the last years”, said Dion Joannou, CEO of Accedian.

Accedian’s service assurance portfolio, which includes microsecond-level sensors and the powerful Skylight Analytics platform, complements Cisco’s robust portfolio. Leveraging Accedian’s advanced network performance and user experience monitoring capabilities, Cisco plans to integrate this data into Cisco ThousandEyes’ cloud, providing comprehensive end-to-end network assurance.

Following the completion of the acquisition, the Accedian team will join Cisco’s Data Center and Provider Connectivity organization within Cisco Networking. The transaction is expected to be finalized during the first quarter of Cisco’s fiscal year 2024.
