Accenture has fortified its semiconductor design and engineering capabilities through the acquisition of Cientra, a company specializing in custom silicon solutions. Established in 2015, Cientra is headquartered in New Jersey, with additional offices in Frankfurt, Germany, and several cities in India, including Bangalore, Hyderabad, and New Delhi. Cientra’s expertise in embedded IoT and application-specific integrated circuit design and verification capabilities enhances Accenture’s silicon design experience, enabling it to better support clients in semiconductor innovation to meet the increasing data computing demands.

Cientra brings significant experience in engineering, development, and testing across hardware, software, and networks within the automotive, telecommunications, and high-tech industries. With approximately 530 engineers and practitioners, Cientra will join Accenture’s Advanced Technology Centers in India.

The semiconductor market is experiencing increased demand for silicon design engineering due to the rise of data centers, AI, and edge computing. The growing consumer demand for electronics is further driving investments in chip design.

This acquisition by Accenture follows the addition of Excelmax Technologies, a semiconductor design services provider based in Bangalore, India. This move aimed to bolster Accenture’s expanding capabilities in silicon design and engineering. Excelmax specializes in custom silicon solutions for consumer devices, data centers, AI, and edge AI deployments, serving industries such as automotive, telecommunications, and high-tech.

Earlier in 2022, Accenture also acquired XtremeEDA, a company based in Ottawa, Canada, that offers semiconductor engineering services. XtremeEDA’s expertise lies in developing custom silicon solutions for consumer devices, cloud data centers, machine learning, and AI computational platforms, facilitating edge AI deployment across North America.
