Open source software provider Red Hat has announced that it has released version 1.1 of its platform as a service offering, OpenShift Enterprise. The news comes a few days after Red Hat expanded Open Hybrid Cloud Solutions and completed acquisition of cloud management tool ManageIQ. OpenShift Enterprise is an enterprise-ready PaaS product from Red Hat that is designed to be installed on-premise within customer data centers or private, public or hybrid clouds. The product enables customers to streamline and standardize developer workflows, facilitating increased IT service delivery velocity that can better support business demands. OpenShift Enterprise is built on a trusted stack of open source-based Red Hat technologies, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, JBoss Enterprise Application Platform and OpenShift Origin.
Today, OpenShift Enterprise 1.1 is available, providing a number of enhancements and updates. OpenShift Enterprise 1.1 features a fully supported developer console that enables application deployment via a web browser, in addition to OpenShift Enterprise’s rich CLI and Eclipse IDE interfaces. Red Hat also announces the availability of a newly published reference architecture, Deploying and Managing a Private PaaS with Enterprise that details how to deploy a distributed OpenShift Enterprise environment and how to use that to build and deploy applications. OpenShift Enterprise 1.1 is available to subscribing customers in North America, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe today.
