STT Global Data Centres’ India division, has recently unveiled its ambitious proposal to invest around Rs 2,000 crore in the establishment of two state-of-the-art data centers at its current campus located in the Dighi area of Pune. The upcoming data centers will be constructed adjacent to the company’s operational data centers in Pune on a 5.4-acre property owned by Tata Communications, secured for a 20-year lease at an initial monthly rent of Rs 1.3 crore.

The investment by STT GDC India comes at a crucial time as data localization norms and the government’s proposed new data center policy gain traction. These initiatives aim to strengthen India’s data infrastructure and ensure timely clearances and robust infrastructure for data storage and processing.

The new data centers at the Pune campus are expected to be operational in phases over the next 12 to 24 months. The expansion will not only boost the digital infrastructure in Pune but also create employment opportunities during the construction and operational phases.

With a scalable potential of 200 MVA and the ability to support up to 140 MW of IT load capacity, the Pune campus of STT GDC India already ranks among the largest data center campuses in the country. It presently hosts three operational facilities with a combined IT load capacity of 40 MW, and two additional similar facilities are currently under construction within the campus, offering an extra 40 MW of IT load capacity.

The increased capacity of the STT GDC India campus will cater to the growing demand for data storage and processing capabilities from various sectors, including e-commerce, finance, healthcare, and telecommunications. It will enable businesses to enhance their digital operations and drive innovation in the era of increasing digitization.

STT Global Data Centres’ investment in the development of cutting-edge data centers demonstrates its commitment to supporting India’s digital transformation and fostering a robust and secure digital ecosystem.
