Nutanix, a provider of hybrid multicloud infrastructure solutions, has recently announced a range of exciting new product offerings and a forward-thinking strategy aimed at assisting customers in simplifying their operations throughout distributed environments and expediting the implementation of cutting-edge applications. With a focus on enabling businesses to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital landscape, Nutanix’s latest innovations promise to provide unparalleled agility and flexibility to organizations of all sizes.
Project Beacon
Nutanix introduced Project Beacon, a long-term initiative aimed at providing a range of data-centric Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) level services that can be natively accessed from anywhere – including on Nutanix or public cloud infrastructure.
The primary goal of this project is to decouple applications and data from the underlying infrastructure, allowing developers to create applications that can be deployed in any environment.
In the initial phase of the project, Nutanix will expand the capabilities of its Nutanix Database Service (NDB) to the public cloud, making it available as a managed service that offers the same level of automation and management as its existing Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) solution. The company plans to extend this capability to other popular data-centric platform services in the future.
Nutanix Central
Nutanix Central is a cloud-delivered platform that allows for seamless visibility, monitoring, and management of all infrastructure, whether it’s on-premises, in the public cloud, at the edge, or hosted elsewhere. It breaks down traditional infrastructure silos, making it easier than ever to manage apps and data consistently across all platforms.
Nutanix Central allows unified reporting and management of the entire Nutanix environment from a single location. It provides multi-domain support for federated identity and access management (IAM), global projects and categories, and global fleet management. It enables IT teams to deliver self-service infrastructure at scale while remaining in control of governance and security.
Nutanix Data Services for Kubernetes (NDK)
Nutanix has unveiled Nutanix Data Services for Kubernetes (NDK), a solution that provides customers with scalable control over cloud-native applications and data. NDK, which will be available as part of Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure, will enable the use of enterprise-class storage, snapshots, and disaster recovery in Kubernetes. This will speed up the development of containerized applications for stateful workloads by integrating storage provisioning, snapshots, and DR operations with Kubernetes pods and application namespaces.
New capabilities in the Nutanix Cloud Platform
Nutanix has also revealed enhancements to the Nutanix Cloud Platform that will improve the performance and security of applications and data, all of which can be managed through Nutanix Central. The updates will allow for the independent scaling of compute-only nodes that run database virtual machines on AHV or ESXi, enhancing performance and lowering costs, and the introduction of high-performance storage-only nodes.
Furthermore, Nutanix plans to enhance software-defined networking and simplify micro-segmentation capabilities across various networks owned by customers, partners, and hyperscalers. This will be achieved through the utilization of Flow Virtual Networking™ (FVN) capabilities and Flow Network Security™ (FNS) features, ultimately enabling customers to better protect themselves against cyber threats.
Nutanix’s latest offerings and features will enhance its ability to provide customers with a smooth and efficient hybrid multicloud experience. By providing a unified management system across all endpoints, customers can run their applications and data anywhere with ease.
