The leading colocation data center provider in India, Web Werks, along with its joint venture partner Iron Mountain Data Centers, has announced an investment of INR 197 crores for a new hyper-scale data center with a power capacity of 20MVA in Noida. The construction of the Noida data center is expected to begin this year and would be open for its customers by 2023.
In May, the government of Uttar Pradesh approved three data center parks intending to make the state the largest data storage hub in northern India. Web Werks will be part of the data center parks approved by the government. It will also launch edge data centers in key cities of Uttar Pradesh with added investments.
“The locational advantage of Uttar Pradesh has made the state attractive for investments in the IT and Electronic industry from many leading players; both Indian and global. The expanse of the state also makes it viable for Web Werks to scale up its investments and launch Edge facilities in key cities furthering its presence in the region”, said Nikhil Rathi, Founder & CEO of Web Werks. “Multiple e-governance services and online service delivery platforms will turn the state into a major cloud storage consumer for these data centers. Our customers will benefit from the locational advantage and the strong IT ecosystem and availability of quality talent”.
Web Werks had previously announced its entry into the Hyderabad IT corridor by acquiring a standalone building for its first data center here that will house a colocation space of 1.2 lakh sqft, offering up to 10MVA gross power capacity and 6MW IT load.
