Red Hat has expanded its partnership with Juniper Networks to provide a unified solution that can make the management of hybrid and multi-cloud environments easier for enterprises.
At the OpenStack Summit 2018, Red Hat announced that it will integrate Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and Red Hat OpenStack Platform with Juniper Contrail Enterprise Multicloud.

Red Hat OpenStack Platform is a highly scalable infrastructure as a service (IaaS) platform that makes the adoption of hybrid cloud and digital transformation initiatives easier. The open source software giant recently announced the latest version of OpenStack Platform.
On the other hand, the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform gives enterprises full control over their Kubernetes environments to build and run applications on-premises and in public cloud. Whereas, the Juniper Contrail Enterprise Multicloud is a multi-cloud ready networking, security, orchestration and monitoring platform.
The integrated solution will help enterprises and IT teams to manage and run applications and services on virtual machines (VMs), containers, and cloud environments.
Red Hat and Juniper said that the new solution can help IT teams to manage connectivity, security, and visibility from a single platform. It will also help enterprises to avoid the vendor lock-ins for multi-cloud environments.
“Modern IT often requires open solutions designed to meet the requirements of today and well into the future. While proprietary cloud infrastructure and networking solutions served their purpose, they were not built with the flexibility open source can deliver for a hybrid cloud world to help meet customer needs for platforms that can speed agility and take advantage of new innovations,” said Lars Herrmann, general manager, Portfolio Programs and Strategy, Red Hat.

“When I talk to customers, I have found the frustration of having chosen a proprietary solution that has limited their abilities in these areas and has locked them in is real. An open source solution that combines the power of containers and a scalable hybrid cloud infrastructure solution with consistent networking can address this. We’re excited to collaborate with Juniper to enable this for customers,” added Herrmann.
In November last year, the companies collaborated to integrate the Red Hat OpenStack platform and Red Hat Ceph Storage with the Juniper Contrail Cloud platform. The collaboration was aimed at providing carriers an easy method of delivery IoT, business and mobile service in the cloud.
