2 Mins read

Rackspace, the leading IT service provider, has signed an agreement with Switch Data Centers, to deliver its private cloud services in Switch’s Tier 5 Platinum data center prime locations.

In addition to private cloud solutions, the services to be delivered on Switch’s Platinum data centers include Rackspace’s managed public cloud solutions on AWS, Azure and Google.

“We see customers running more and more applications, and increasingly complex ones, on multiple IT platforms,” said Rackspace CEO Joe Eazor“As part of a customer’s digital transformation, they are asking us for hybrid solutions delivered as a service in their corporate data centers or in colocation facilities like the highly secure Tier 5® Platinum data centers that Switch operates.  We’re excited that our collaboration will enable Rackspace and Switch to serve that customer need.”

Since the agreement includes Rackspace’s Fanatical Everywhere and Pay-As-You-Go-Private Cloud Services, customers will be able to run private clouds in any data center, with similar billing model they use for public cloud.

The combination of Rackspace and Switch will help customers to get a number of benefits.

The Tier 5 platinum data centers of Switch comprises long-term power system capabilities, more number of carriers, renewable energy usage, better resiliency and high degree of redundancy.

Switch SUPERLOOP (the active-active multi-site data center ecosystem), RackConnect, and Public Cloud On-Ramps will provide the reliability and security of traditional colocation along with the flexibility and scalability of cloud, enabling customers to connect to Rackspace’s managed solutions on public clouds with low latency.

Customers can secure workloads on all their IT environments using the Rackspace Managed Security solutions with Switch’s Tier 5 Platinum data centers.

On the management front, Rackspace will offer managed services for enterprise applications in Oracle and SAP ecosystems, along with the applications for ecommerce, web content management and digital marketing.

“Today, we are making it easier for customers with complex needs to have highly secure, reliable, and easy-to-use solutions,” said Switch founder and CEO Rob Roy. “Rackspace offers a holistic IT portfolio across managed public clouds, private clouds, and managed data, applications and security. It pulls together technology in a way that no other company can, and it does so wherever it makes the most sense for the customer. We’re looking forward to helping customers navigate their digital transformation journey together.”

In February this year, Switch had launched a wholesale Data Center-as-a-Service (DCaaS) program to accelerate the datacenter deployment on global scale.

Las Vegas, Nevada, Tahoe-Reno, Grand Rapids, Michigan and Atlanta, and Georgia, are among the prime locations of Switch Tier 5 data centers.
