Acronis updates

In its latest monthly release, Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, the comprehensive backup and cybersecurity platform for Managed Service Providers (MSPs), unveils a range of features meticulously designed to provide enduring value to clients. Despite being an incremental update, it strategically targets specific areas, prioritizing the enhancement of backup security, operational efficiency, and overall security for managed services.

Here are the new updates to look out for.

  1. Enhanced management of exclusions within protection plans

One notable improvement is the enhanced management of exclusions for anti-malware and URL filtering. The user interface for the “exclusions” settings in antivirus and anti-malware protection, as well as URL filtering, has undergone a revamp. The result is a more intuitive and user-friendly experience, supporting network folder paths and wildcards. This enhancement significantly improves precision in identifying potential threats, contributing to an overall fortified cybersecurity posture.

  1. Patch management for Windows third-party products

Acronis has extended the “All Updates” option in Acronis Advanced Management to include Windows third-party products. This strategic move enhances security by deploying the latest patches for both minor and major updates. This comprehensive approach simplifies the deployment process, ensuring that all available updates are seamlessly installed, thereby contributing to a more robust and resilient system.

  1. Option for application-consistent backup for virtual machines

In the case of critical business applications, capturing quiesced snapshots of virtual machines while these applications are in operation is essential to maintain a uniform backup. Recognizing this, Acronis introduces a new option to enforce this for such business applications. This feature ensures a consistent backup process. This is particularly crucial for complex applications and databases, as it not only reduces the risk of data corruption but also aligns with various regulatory standards, ensuring more reliable and compliant data backups.

These updates underscore Acronis’ unwavering commitment to the continuous improvement of cyber protection and operational services. Acronis has also implemented updates to the Cyber Protection agent and Acronis Cyber Cloud API.

Moreover, it has addressed various issues, including the slowdown caused by retrying to back up missing items, irregular scheduling of cloud-to-cloud backups, and discrepancies in website backups adhering to the daily schedule. Other resolved issues include the rectification of slow performance in the Cyber Protect console, as well as the removal of incorrect mapping that led to personal storage on Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, or SharePoint being erroneously blocked as illegal downloads.
