Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2 was released this week, on Tuesday, December 6th, and contains a number of updates to the May 2011 release of RHEL 6.1. Functionality enhancements in RHEL 6.2 include optimization in virtualization, resource management, High Availability (HA) configuration, identity management, storage capabilities, and overall server performance.
These updates allow for increased control over the dissemination of resources in virtualized environments, greater flexibility in cloud server deployment, added administrative control and security, improved storage capabilities through the utilization of iSCSI, as well as accelerated I/O and packet steering to improve network throughput by as much as 30 percent, Red Hat announced with the release of RHEL 6.2.
