HCLTech stock remains stable despite confirmation of ransomware incident in a cloud environment

HCL Technologies, a global IT company headquartered in Noida, faced a ransomware incident within an isolated cloud environment associated with one of its projects. The company has assured stakeholders that there has been no observed impact on the overall HCL Technologies network.

The announcement came through a stock exchange filing, where HCL Technologies stated that it has become aware of a ransomware incident in an isolated cloud environment for one of its projects. The company emphasized its commitment to cybersecurity and data protection, highlighting that a comprehensive investigation is underway in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to determine the root cause and implement necessary remedial actions.

Market analysts are closely monitoring HCL Technologies, along with other IT stocks, especially after global peer Accenture reported its quarterly results on December 19. Accenture’s performance is seen as an indicator of the upcoming domestic earnings season for tech services companies.

On the financial front, on NSE, HCL Technologies opened at INR 1501.45 on December 19 and closed at INR 1488.30. The following day, the company started at INR 1484.95, reaching a high of INR 1503.05. However, it closed at INR 1437.95 on 20 December.

Looking back at the fiscal quarter that ended in September 2023, HCL Technologies reported a revenue of ₹26,672 Crore, reflecting a 1.4% quarter-on-quarter increase and an 8.0% year-on-year growth.

HCL Technologies continues to expand its collaborations worldwide. It recently signed a service provider agreement with Red Hat Inc. The collaboration aims to assist enterprises in North America in scaling their digital transformation, aligning with HCL’s commitment to providing flexible, scalable, and security-focused solutions.

In early December, the company announced the inauguration of its new Global Delivery Center (GDC) in Iasi, Romania. The state-of-the-art center will focus on providing next-generation digital, engineering, cloud, and AI solutions.

Furthermore, HCL Technologies has extended its strategic IT and digital transformation partnership with Swedish manufacturer Husqvarna Group. Under the new five-year agreement, HCLTech will leverage its expertise in AI, digital, engineering, and support services to enhance the resilience and stability of Husqvarna Group’s IT environments through hyper-personalized, adaptive, AI-based solutions and a collaborative governance framework.
