Co-location and datacenter solutions provider Cobalt Data Centers today announced the appointment of Jefferson S. Brown as President of the company. Brown replaces Mike Ballard, Cobalt’s previous CEO,who has stepped down to pursue other interests.
Brown has over 20 years of experience with high-tech operations, having most recently served cloud hosting provider Savvis as Vice President of Sale.

Prior to joining Savvis, Brown served VeriSign’s authentication solutions business unit as Vice President of Sales for the Americas. Brown has also held leadership positions at Equinix, iPass and CompuServe in the past.
He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Chicago and Master of Business Administration degree from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. Brown has also completed the Executive Program in Strategic Sales Management at the Chicago Booth School of Business.
In 2006, Brown led a buyout of Equinix’s Honolulu datacenter business to form DRFortress, Hawaii based colocation and cloud service provider. He was DRFortress’ original CEO and helped them raise more than $15 million and build the foundation for Hawaii’s largest datacenter operator.
He continues to serve DRFortress’s board of directors.
